1-30-sf antique logo.jpgWe hadn't been to the San Francisco Antique and Design Mall since it opened about 10 years ago. It was recommended to us by AT:SF reader Vince, who moved his two booths there after Antique Trove closed, so we made a recent visit. We didn't have much time, so we didn't jot down prices, but we took quite a few photos of things that caught our eye...

...Suffice it to say: 37,000 square feet. Over 100 dealers. Some prices seemed high, some seemed really reasonable. We'll be back.

I love going to this place. My only complaint with all Antique Malls is that I hate seeing new items for sale. Of course the price fluctuations always surprise me.

I've always wanted to check this place out. Is it the kind of place where you should "discuss price" with the vendors?

SFGail,

Interesting question. I'd forgotten that during my visit, I saw several items without price tags. When I asked the person behind the counter about them, he turned out to be the store owner and was willing to negotiate.

Of course, this may vary depending on the item. Since the vendors aren't generally onsite, it may take a phone call and being willing to give up on instantaneous gratification.
