Inspiration: Vintage Sign as Rolling Door

12-18-08 sign.jpgIf we had a spot for it, we'd jump on this idea of using a sign as a rolling door in a minute. In fact, we'd already be perusing eBay and Craigslist...

... but no. Maybe in our next home.

A great example of repurposing if I've ever seen one!

Rolling doors are a fab feature for post-industrial homes!

We think as you do. Because we live in a 19th century house with low ceilings and lots of molding, all this large-scale industrial decor has to be filed away for future projects. But boy, do we love it.

We also enjoy referring to ourselves in the Royal Plural, although there is only one of us.

I have an old vintage sign door, but the last owner of my home put it up with very little attention to detail so it rarely stays on track. Are there any ideas of how to get something that big and that heavy to stay on track?

When I realized how much I loved this oversized-sign-as-door idea, along with the old wall-mounted auto headlamps featured on AT a few days ago, it occurs to me I must want to live in a mechanic's garage. When did that happen?

lol @ jendavid99. You and my friend, Javier, would get along great. He asked me the other day if he could ask a builder to build a house reversed. 2000 square feet of garage and 800 square feet of living space. :)

There was a post here not too long ago about an apartment/gallery space that utilized a modular design where walls could be moved..slid..etc. Incorporating industrial items, like the sliding sign, into that same design would be very interesting.

Happy Holidays!!
