Inspiration: Hitachino Beer

9-22-08 hitachino beer.jpgHow many a mind has found inspiration in a bottle of beer? No doubt there's a long line before us, but perhaps we're one of the few who can say it literally. While knocking back a few at Monk's Kettle, we realized the label of our Hitachino White Ale had just the colors we'd like to use in a kitchen...

Maybe some type of mix between these two images. We imagine lots of white cabinets, backed with a marine-colored wallpaper. Accents of orangey-red, like our Le Creuset pots, would be worked in as well. And we have a great navy kimono with a little apple pattern that could be repurposed as cushions for the dining room chairs - yet another nod to the Japanese beer. Would you want to style a room around this bottle? How would you do it?

Not to mention the fact that it's a delicious beer. I make fridge magnets out of the caps--love that little owl!

OMG! I need a bottle of this beer, 'cos these are the colors of my kitchen. We didn't want to start out with a whole kitchen re-do when we bought our house, so decided to work with the white with light blue and grey flooring and blue-grey countertop that was there, at least for a while. The appliances are white, and the cabinets are an old 1950's wall of simple metal cabinets, also painted white. We are about to paint the walls a warm neutral grey, and the accent color, for stuff like new potholders, tea towels, and artwork always includes some of that lovely vermillion red, and black... I wonder where here in Portland I can get some of that beer?

Hey, me too ValHalla, have 2-3 magnets from it on the fridge right now. Also kept the bottle & have one of those turn a bottle into an oil lamp stopper things in it. I know Bottleworks in Seattle (Wallingford area, on 45th) carries it!

I'd toss in some grey. A nice warm grey, half way between "dove" and "charcoal."

If you can't find Hitachino at your local bottle shop, try the nearest World Market store. They usually carry their beers.

As lovely as the label is, and it is lovely, the beer is over rated, especially the white ale pictured.

I found a graphic of an advertisment for a Chinese beer and now I wish I could find it again--it's a koi and I think the motto said something about the king of beer (no, not the "boss" of beer!)
