AT:SF,
I have some old electronic equipment (Stereo, speakers, TV) that I don't use anymore. Do you know of good (green) places to recycle stuff like this in the Bay Area?
Thanks!
Lisa

Lisa,
If they work, we'd put them in the "free" section on Craigslist -- we've done that with quite a few things. We haven't tried Freecycle, but we know there are readers who have.
If they don't, the first one that came to mind was GreenCitizen.
There's also the Alameda County Computer Resource Center and the Computer Recycling Center" (neither are just for computers).
This site has some more suggestions. There's also more information here.

Have you tried Cole Hardware? I think they still recycle old electronic equipment and there is no charge. Try looking on their web site.

If you buy a computer from Apple, they will recycle your old computer for you, monitor and all. They even pay for the shipping.

even if it DOESN'T work, you might get some takers on craigslist.

I like to use gcycle.org. Simply enter your zip code, select what item you want to recycle and the site will show you places near you that accept the item.

the alameda county computer resource center will take anything with a plug plus old CDs, VHS, floppy disks. You can find other places at www.stopwaste.org
