Newspaper Containers

2007_05_10_newspaper.jpgNeutralize it.

All the talk of carbon footprints has made us wonder about our other consumption traces. How many newspapers do you slam through in a year? Yes, you can recycle newsprint, but it's even better if you can first re-use it.

Hand-crafted from (colorful) newspapers using grass basket weaving techniques, Claudia Garzesi's lidded bowl is 8"W x 4.5"H, is a perfect catchall size for jewelry and small personal items. It might not cancel out your newsprint footprint, but it's a start.

Designed by NY's Recycled Planet Store (which takes materials donations), and available through the Grounds for Sculpture Museum for $48.

you can also make your own! it's a little tedious but very easy. you can make a nice little lid but just making a shallower upside down bowl.
