Glass Fishbowl Made of Recycled Windshields

4-24-08-fishbowl.jpg

We found this over at Uncommon Goods, and we'd love to see it in use, full of colorful fish. The two-handled shape reminds us of a Victorian punchbowl, and it in fact could be used as one, or as a vase, or for storage.

In fact, we're not quite sure why Uncommon Goods landed on fishbowl as its first use. The glass is slightly greenish (from the anti-glare treatment for its original function) and just under a foot tall and wide. $65 here.

Can we please stop perpetuating the myth that a bowl is in any way, shape, or form a proper environment for a fish?

THANK YOU, Allsunday. Fishbowls are so horrible. Yeah, they might look nice, but, personally, I'm not one for subjecting animals to cruel living conditions so that I can have a pretty decoration.

Amen. That's not a home for a fish, it's a coffin.

actually anything over a gallon is fine for a betta fish. I do wish they would stop selling those tiny bowls like this: http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/8/857211001223C.jpg
I've tried bettas in ten gallon tanks before, and they were not ok with the filtration and movement of the water. they kept getting pulled over to the filter area. I've had the most luck in my years of betta raising with a two gallon bowl, with weekly water changes. I don't know how big this bowl is, but I like the way it looks and would love to put it in my room.

I just re-read the original post, and did take offense at the "full of colorful fish" bit. a fish bowl is only ok for one small fish, particularly a betta.

Beautiful piece and not appropriate for fish. Thank you previous commenters for taking a stand.

Oh, and I'd much rather use it as a vase.
