It's been said that finding the right home is a lot like falling in love, Hollywood style: The minute you cross the threshold, you just...know. You inspect every detail, you think about the changes and renovations, you imagine yourself living there. But what happens when you don't find that perfect home? You can keep looking--or take a risk. Josh and Jen did just that when they decided to take an empty 1920s warehouse with concrete floors and turn it into an ideal home for themselves.

Open Shelving in a Bathroom for Your Collections

01_10.02.09_OpenShelving.jpgWe posted about open shelving in bathrooms previously on Apartment Therapy, but we love the idea of using the shelves to enhance the decor. We absolutely adore the aquatic themed bathroom in the first photo. A collection of starfish, coral, and shells is what you would be surrounded by when taking a bath.

Interiors from Gudrun Sjoden

We are not sure how is it possible that we didn't know about Gudrun Sjoden until now. We discovered the store's website searching for inspiration on the web. Our first impression was that the style and the clothing are very similar to Anthropologie. In many ways they are indistinguishable. Check out more photos after the jump...

Illustrations by Claire Scully

We love the portfolio of London based artist, Claire Scully. Her site features a great variety of drawings and paintings as well as some of her three dimensional work. Check out more examples after the jump...

The Community Bookcase

01_09.29.09_CommunityBookcase.jpgSo much of what we post about is what we would like to have in our own home. This wonderful idea of a community bookcase made us think of ways how to share with our community more than we already do. We donate to Goodwill regularly, but how great would it be to create something that everyone in your neighborhood could use and enjoy.

Art, Plates, Paper & More From French Paper

Many of you might have heard about French Paper. They are a great source for paper goods, cards, napkins, wrapping paper etc. Recenlty we discovered that they also sell affordable art called Decor-a-board. Check out some of our favorites after the jump...

Etsy Find: State Bird Prints from Dutch Door Press

We previously posted about Amy Ruppel's State Birds Series, today we wanted to share with you a collection of state birds prints from Dutch Door Press. Their approach is very different, much more subtle and delicate. Check it out after the jump...

Decorating with Tartan

With colder days just around the corner, we have been looking at warm blankets and winter decor. Through our search we came across a story from the Domino archives about Tartan. The patterns can be very classy and as decorating elements somewhat courageous and unexpected.

Linocuts by Catherine Deeson

When we were in college, printing class was one of our favorites. Linocut was the first printing technique that we learned. It is similar to woodcut, but it is much easier to master as linoleum is softer material to cut into. Catherine Deeson makes some beautiful linocuts. Check them out after the jump...

How To: Make a Maple Leaf Wreath

01_09.22.09_FallWreath.jpgBecause today is the first day of Fall and many trees are already changing color, at least in some parts of the country, we wanted to share with you this great DIY project on how to make a maple leaf wreath.

Framing Wallpaper Samples

01_09.21.09_FramingWallpaper.jpgWe posted about framing wallpaper samples previously on Apartment Therapy, but we especially like the way it is done in this neutrally decorated room. For many, committing to one wallpaper is an overwhelming choice, so starting with framed samples could be a perfect way to see what works.

Rocking Chairs Project

01_09.18.09_RockingChair.jpgWe have been looking for a vintage rocking chair for awhile. There is something incredibly relaxing about rocking chairs. We imagine ourselves sitting in a rocking chair on a balcony or a porch on a beautiful day, just soaking up the sun. Gabrielle Blair from DesignMom.com has set out on a mission to find seven of them for each one of her family members.

Lovely Prints by Freya

We came across one of Freya's prints and decided to find out more. After visiting her website we completely fell in love with her work. Her art is somewhat unusual and very straightforward. Simple quotes in her pieces are moving and thought provoking.

Illustrations by Kris Atomic

We became avid fans of Kris' wonderful illustrations thanks to her blog, KrisAtomic.com. Her work definitely stands out. She has a great sense of color and we enjoy the subtle humor in some of the pieces.

Feldman Architecture: The Old Bernal House

Recently we posted about House Ocho by Feldman Architecture, but today we wanted to share with you another one of their projects. It is an 1860s Old Bernal House that was completely renovated and expanded. Check out more photos after the jump...
