The Gallery : Andrew Zarou

Visiting the Pigeon House

Introducing Andrew Zarou, an artist who works with collage, combining all manner of “found” paper -- such as lottery tickets, magazine cutouts and cigarette foil – with a meticulous layering process of paint and drawing.

There is something of the aerial view…of maps, of labyrinths… and an infectious delight in patterning and layering. I like the variety in his quality of line and the colors and shapes he chooses to juxtapose in the areas of flat color.

Take a look at the interactions between the drawn, the painted and the collaged layers… each material answering, emphasizing or jostling the other.
