Getting organized: Jack Cards

12_07jackcards.jpg

I don't know about you but one of my resolutions this year is that to get my personal calendar organized so that I won't forget another birthday again. If you're anything like me, I start out each year with good intentions and my mid-March I'm flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to sending out birthday and anniversary cards. I think I've found the solution though with Jack Cards.

Home Remedy: Conditioner as burn treatment

12_07scalptherapy.jpg

On Thanksgiving day I pulled the classic kitchen error. While scrambling to get everything on the table, I put a pan that had just come out of the oven into the sink. Then, without thought, turned around to wash said pan and picked it straight up with my bare hand.

Thanksgiving dinner consisted of a wrapped hand with ice, soaking it in tea (tea is suppose to take the sting out). It wasn't until post-dinner when I was contemplating an ER visit that I remembered a product class I took in my past life as a Salon GM. Nioxin's hair system consisting of a conditioner called Scalp Therapy was also toted as a burn remedy and we used it often in the salon when stylists burned themselves with curling irons.

Etsy artist: Robert Reader of Isofoto

You may recall seeing Robert Reader's work when we found him in Etsy's photography section last month. Robert sent us some new images today telling us about a new series he posted to Etsy which is based in oversize Poloroid reproductions that measure 11.5" x 9".

Local Parades: Hometown holiday spirit

11_07xmasparade.jpg

If you're a L.A. transplant like many of us around here, you may miss small town holiday festivities or maybe you're just a sucker for holiday cuteness. If so, be sure to check out Belmont Shore's Christmas Parade this Saturday Dec 1 in Long Beach 6-9pm.

Generally attracting 45,000+ viewers and over 100 entries it's not the tiniest of parades but it does give a good dose of holiday cheer. If Long Beach is too much of a haul, Los Angeles County also has an events calendar of festivities around the city.

Look! Chicken Point Cabin

07_11chickenpt5.jpg There is just something that makes our hearts sing when it comes to large doors and gears, so when we saw the two combined for this home we did a little snoopy dance.

Chicken Point Cabin and was designed by Olson Sundgerg Kundig Allen Architects. The property which located in Northern Idaho, is far from what we had envisioned spudsville to be!

Restoration Hardware: Super Gift Catalog

11_07restorationcover.jpg

Restoration Hardware must have known that we had completely forgot about them, because today in our mailbox was not one but two fantastic catalogs. [we know it's not green but we are whores for a glossy catalog or two... ok six.] The second of the two catalogs, is purely

Brocade Home: gifts

11_07electroniccases.jpg

As someone who is allergic to patterns if it deviates from a stripe or polka dots, I wouldn't describe myself as Brocade Home's ideal target audience. It's all really beautiful, I just can't seem to make sense of how to make it fit in my world. But good news for both of us I did just get their holiday catalog in the mail and they have some really lovely small gift items that might help me build up my tolerance to pattern.

Some of the favorites, the Electronic Cases available in three sizes that fit a [small] small cell phone or nano, [medium] larger cell phones or standard ipod, or the large which fits a Blackberry. Available in 3 colors: peony, silver, leaf $39-$59

Glass cluster chandelier

11_07chandelierwine.jpgOh look up in the sky... It's a wine glass, it's a chandelier, It's a wineglass-chandelier!

If you've wondered where you're going to put 10 people in your apartment and have enough room left over for the buffet table this glass cluster chandelier might be the perfect solution. As described on the site, "Upside-down wine glasses make up this chandelier. The stemware is meant to be used and then rehung."

Angela Adams comes to dinner

11_07dinnerparty3.jpg

Ok, well not Angela herself came to dinner but the good folks that work with Ms. Adams asked if we would like to test drive the new pretty serving trays that we covered recently here. We said yes! without giving it a second thought.

A serving tray of this magnitude demands a dinner party be thrown in it's honor. We called a couple friends and said risotto and cocktails and they said how soon can we be there?

Michelin Ratings come to Los Angeles

11_07michelinguide.jpgThough we're sort of stepping on our big sister's toes over at The Kitchen, It's a big week for Los Angeles with the first ever Michelin Rating guide coming to the city of angels. The Michelin Guide ratings 1-3 stars have long been used in Europe where you ain't nothin' with out your stars.

Whether or not you like you are a full blown foodie, or just like to treat yourself to a nice meal once in a while The Michelin Guide could lead you to a new place you've never been or reinforced a desire to go to a place you've long heard of.

Sadly, we didn't get any three stars, but sometimes it's good to aspire to something greater.

Ceiling-Mount Bike Lift

11_07ceilingbikemount.jpg

I once lived in a what the owners called a loft apartment. My friends called it the Taco Hut because it was so small it looked like a drive thru, you guessed it, a taco hut. I had a bike at that point that I used to get around town. The sad part about having the bike is that it pretty much took all of my unused floor space up when parked. It made

News flash: CB2 to open in Los Angeles

11_6cb2LAsite.jpg

CNBC via LA Curbed reported today that drool worthy CB2 is currently looking for a Los Angeles location [San Francisco will open next]. Crate and Barrel's sister [lower priced/loft inspired] store just launched their first store outside of Chicago in New York Tuesday, which Maxwell attended and reported on here. Finally we get to sit on that couch we've been eyeing forever!

Green get-aways: Sacred Sands B&B

11_07strawbalehouse1.jpg

A coworker recently came back from a weekend in the desert and told me that I must check out this B&B in Joshua Tree that he and his wife discovered while on an art tour. Sacred Sands is located near the west entrance of Joshua Tree and focuses on rest and relaxation in a luxury 'green' environment. Intrigued by the glowing reports from our coworker we searched for more information at their website. The place is small, currently only two guest rooms [with plans for more].

blogging Dwell Magazine: November 07'

11_07dwellmag.jpg This month's Dwell Magazine features Jennifer Siegal's Venice home which was mentioned yesterday here at AT. Oddly enough we recently saw a home show [we can't remember which one] that walked through her home talking about her semi-truck add on. We can't help but want to rename the article "it ain't a home till you take the wheels off" just to poke fun at the semi truck portion, but Siegal has made great strides in the prefab development
