HotRodGal has finished her kitchen deep clean!

We're headed into the weekend with tons of momentum! If you haven't already, take this weekend to finish up the deep clean in the kitchen and set the date for your housewarming shindig. Next week we'll be talking about color and how to keep the outside world from invading your home. Until then, jump below for a refresher on this week's assignment and the progress you've all been making:

This week of the Cure emphasizes that redecorating starts with clearing out the old to make way for the new. You've been working on the kitchen, giving it a deep clean, this can be exhausting and exhilarating all at once. It might seem easy to skip, but don't cheat yourself of one of our favorite exercises: spend the time to run your hands across every wall of our apartment. We've been surprised by how much we've learned about our apartment this way. We also got some unexpected perspectives on rooms because we ended up standing in places we never do and seeing things from a totally new angle.

To Do This Week (Deep Treatment)
- Fix one thing in your apartment yourself (pick an easy one!)
- Clean and declutter the kitchen (use the Outbox)
- Determine your style
- Cook one meal at home (keep it simple)
To Do This Week (One Room Workout)
- Decide on the activities you want in your room (collect everything for that activity and put it in that space)
- Make a floor plan
- Name your vision
- Make a shopping list
Have fun cooking a meal this weekend and do yourself a favor: if there are things in the outbox that you know you are finished with, get them out of the house and enjoy more space!

jen.lum has maybe settled on this wall color?

I feel a bit behind, but I think that's because I rushed forth with rearranging my bedroom. I tend to get carried away sometimes, hehe.
But this weekend, in the midst of errands and clean-up around the rest of the apartment, I'm going to take the time to sit down, fill my style tray, and focus my vision for the one-room remedy.
Having all of these grand plans in my mind is great, but not much help when I start to work and realize I don't actually have any idea what I'm doing and which "grand idea" I should be referencing. :)

I don't understand how HotRodGal can get her kitchen that clean...where is all her, ummm, "stuff"? I have counter envy!
I'm trying desperately to de-clutter, weed out, etc...but there are always sponges, dishracks, soap, etc...that seem to consume counter space.
My Flickr pics tell a much prettier story, though!

brainygirl, my kitchen actually does have stuff, my before pics show a ton of clutter on my counters. This was not actually my deep clean but really the finish to my kitchen repair, which was putting in new countertops and backsplash (pics of the whole process are posted in my Flickr pics. I had just finished with the sink the night the pic was taken and had not put back any of the stuff yet! I am however enjoying having non-cluttered counters for a change and and trying to be very selective about what goes back on them. Now I get to start actual cleaning, there is construction dust on everthing!

I spent some time cleaning and decluttering in the kitchen. My kitchen is starting to look good! I was able to fit all my cookbooks on the top shelf of my pantry, and my spices are all away from heat sources!
I've also added a lot of items to the outbox. I actully got rid of one item, too. My boyfriend was visiting and noticed one of his socks in my outbox- he had been missing it!
