Creating Storage When Closests Don't Exist
Adventures In Loft Living Day 4

112008-loft.jpg The great thing about loft living is that the space is totally customizable. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how creative you are, or how crafty you are with a hammer and saw. Click through the jump to see some tricky storage items and how (for now) we plan on tackling the problem of keeping them out of the way with little effort.

Good Quotes: On Entertaining....

112008-quote.jpg Entertaining friends, cooking large meals that require preparation and thought is a joy of many. But to some it can be their worst nightmare. Would you rather meet up with friends outside your home to avoid the pressures? Click through the jump to let us know!

Architectural Embroidery

111908-flw.jpg Always having been jealous of those who have the patience to sit and embroider something fun and elaborate, we were in awe of these Frank Lloyd Wright wall hangings. Click through the jump for more information on the artist, the process and more photos of this great project!

Whoa! Color Overload And Then Some
Adventures in Loft Living Day 3

111908-bathroom.jpg One of the joys of moving is deciding what colors to paint your new space. Is it going to be something calm and serene or something bright and shocking? We are guessing that the people who moved from our space before us were a bit on the eccentric side of life. The photo above is taken in our bathroom and it's a little hard to swallow in a place that is usually a bit more tame. Click through the jump to see the electric color that our one drywall-wall is painted.... think Kermit.

Look! Trio Of Hanging Frames

111808-hangingframes2.jpg Tired of putting multiple nail holes in the wall? So were these homeowners in Kansas City. They display their artwork on a railing that blends right in with the wall. Click through the jump for a better look at this trio of hanging frames (which is totally interchangeable and can be added to whenever the mood strikes!)

Window Sills In Need Of Some TLC
Adventures in Loft Living Day 2

111708-windowsill.jpg In today's installment of Adventures in Loft Living our focus turns to our window sills that have seen better days. You take the good with the bad in a space like this, but it doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. Click through the jump to give your thoughts on this crumbling situation.

Midwest Fall Cure: Week Six

111708-cure4.jpg

gridpaper. is still keeping things fresh with weekly flowers. Even when your house is a wreck with sorting clutter from our various spaces a glance at a great vase of flowers can really brighten our mood!

4-14-08curelogo.jpg We are on the Home Run stretch with Midwest Fall Cure. We have done a great deal of busy work over the last few weeks and decluttered with the rest of the Cure participants from around the country. This week it's time to slow down a bit and help accent our home with the things that really make it feel like "home." We're working in our bathrooms and taking a long look at our lighting (one of the most important things in our spaces!). Eating at home should be coming naturally and be less frustrating here at the week 6 marker (don't forget to show us what you're eating in the Midwest Flickr pool!). So click through the jump to see all the tricks that week 6 has up it's sleeve.

What's The First Thing You Unpack?
Adventures in Loft Living Day 1

111708-moving1.jpg This past weekend was chilly and overcast in Kansas City. A perfect weekend for moving! My husband and I packed up all of our stuff and headed downtown to our new loft. It's a very raw space just waiting for construction projects and the execution of "crazy loft ideas". So look for a new installment of Adventures in Loft Living each day this week as I have lots of fun "stuff and things" to discuss with all of you! Click through the jump to see what the first thing we unpacked was and share with us your immediate moving necessities.

Uses For The Ever Wonderful Plastic Squeeze Bottle

111308-squeezebottles.jpg They hold our shampoo, our condiments (hopefully those two things aren't interchangeable) and occasionally our art supplies. See where we use ours and tell us what your plastic squeeze bottles hold after the jump!

The 12 Germiest Places In Your Spaces
NBC Today Show 11.12.08

111308-sink.jpg There are places throughout our day that we would normally consider to have a germ or two (or three or four depending on our cleaning skills). Toilets, doorknobs and keyboards all come to mind. But we have a few more that might not have been on your germ-dar. Click through to see where bacteria might be lurking unknowingly in your daily routine.

Do You Leave Your Porch Light On?

111208-porchlight.jpg While walking home tonight we noticed that our neighborhood is relatively dark. Out of the many homes we passed by only 4 had their porch light on. Are people conserving energy and leaving them off, or are times just changing? Weigh in on it after the jump...

Look! Anatomy Print From The Paper Source

111208-anatomy1.jpg The search was on for a great anatomy print since this home tour earlier this year. We've been checking auctions, garage sales and estate sales all summer long with little to no luck. So, it was a pleasant surprise to find one at our local Paper Source this past weekend. Click through to see our discovery in full!

Retail Decor Inspiration: Urban Outfitters
Part 2 of 2

111008-urbanoutfitters2.jpg Often times we feel like a salmon upstream in our local Urban Outfitters. We never feel like we are wearing enough layers or hip enough sunglasses, but it's worth the time to check out some of their home decor items. On the way downstairs to do just that, two things caught our eye... click through the jump to see what they were.

Retail Decor Inspiration: Anthropologie
Part 1 of 2

111008-urbanoutfitters5.jpg Sometimes the best part about shopping is the window displays. While we were out and about this past weekend, we came across some clever ideas used in retail spaces that could easily be translated into home decor with a little creativity. Click through the jump to learn more about the image above and what it's made from.

Midwest Fall Cure: Week Five And All That Jive

4-11-08curelogo.jpg This week we are taking on the media that sometimes seems to consume us. Maybe the wire tangles behind your TV are on your list, or perhaps the revolving door of blank media in your home office? Either way this week we are taking charge, clearing the clutter and then taking a step back from it with a day of media fasting.
We are just over the half way point and some of us might be feeling a bit of a drag, but that's no worry because without a little growing pain, progress isn't made. So check out the great links to fabulous food and several ways to keep your home office in check after the jump....
